Regular readers will know that we do not publish a health and fitness post on U.S. Federal Holidays.
Since 1954, Veterans Day has honored all American veterans, not just those of World War I – for whom Armistice Day, the 11th day of the 11th month, originally was created.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs defines the term “veteran” as a “person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable.”
Today, particularly, let us thank the Veterans among us for their service.
We honor our Veterans with a quote from U.S. Revolutionary War Founding Father Patrick Henry….
“The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.”
May we also be vigilant, active and brave in supporting and encouraging active military who will become veterans. WF!
