As we march into March, let’s focus on marching’s precursor…which is standing tall and erect.
The idea for today’s post came from my daily habit of standing at the desk in front of my iMac desktop computer.
For years I sat at my desk – but then developed severe sciatic pain, which prolonged sitting aggravated.
To ease the sit-down pain in my right hip and leg I propped a few thick textbooks under the computer’s base, raising the monitor screen to eye level so I could stand while working.
Presto, the standing position relieved much of my sciatica.
A world of fitness benefits was re-discovered.
This 7 Benefits of Standing at Work article from Orthopedic Hospital of Wisconsin summarizes how standing, rather than sitting at my desk, improved life enough for me to be able to return to active exercising.
Top three of the 7 Benefits of Standing… began to take effect in my body during the first few weeks of standing.
These Thee Benefits included Burning Calories, Giving Me an Energy Boost and Improving Posture.
Now we have a simple Marching Order for March – Time to Stand!
Here is opening line from a poem by Marilyn Lott regarding another main benefit of standing.
Standing Up Isn”t Necessarily Easy”...Let’s use it in going to the polls tomorrow if we already have not voted by mail. WF!
