My upper left arm is tender and a little swollen from the high-dose quadrivalent flu shot I received yesterday.
The intent next weekend is to obtain my second Shingrix vaccine – the first was received in early June, 2023. This would keep my body within the recommended two-to-six month, two dose shingles prevention inoculation window.
When the latest COVID variant booster becomes readily available at pharmacies within the next few weeks, I’ll plan to receive that injection as well.
Overkill with vaccinations?
Not so for this health enthusiast.
Although adhering to the Ten Tips for a Happy Healthy Life, published in this blog every January, has served me well, including doctor’s vaccine recommendations for illness prevention has become a necessary wellness regimen component for me.
My favorite over-the-counter cold prevention remedies include liquid goldenseal herbal tonic and liquid zinc drops taken at least a couple times a day in 2-ounce small bottles of ginger/cayenne tropical juice bottles. Warning: This combo taste gnarly!
Finally, if feeling under the weather…I stay away from others, so as not to spread what may be coming on, and go to bed if at all possible.
Rest is the great recovery vehicle for a body fighting off any energy draining viruses.
Prevention Plus modalities at the onset of Fall and soon Winter can assist us in staying “hale, hearty” and welcome, healthy, good cheer company for ourselves and everyone with whom we associate.
