POWER DOWN

First time I heard the words “‘power down’ your device” I did not understand the term and wondered why the flight attendant didn’t just say “turn it off.”
The internet clarifies the phrase by stating that “power down” means to shut down (a computer system) in a methodical way, concluding by switching the power off.

Powering Down to Power Up

California energy commercials urge us to ‘Power Down” (taper) electricity use from 4 to 9 p.m. so as not to overtax the grid.

Healthy living suggests that we convert “power down” to “power nap” if occasional lack of sleep causes mind fog, or lethargy creeps into middle of the day or we simply need an energy refresh.

Cornell University social psychologist James Maas coined the phrase “Power Nap.” This approximate 20-minute nap increases alertness and motor skills. Various durations may be recommended for power naps, which are very short compared to regular sleep.

I take a 25-to-30 minute Power Nap four to five days a week around 2:45 p.m..

Amazing how good the nap is for my brain and how restorative the pixie dust of that sleep can be.

Naps are free. Come along and dream with me. WF!
