“What a cool, descriptive word,” I thought, when introduced to the term Inflammaging. The word appeared under the Causes of Mobility Dysfunction section of my Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Golf Fitness course.
That Inflammation plus aging1 equals inflammaging obviously isn’t cool.
Generally as inflammaging increases, a person will feel stiffer in overall movement.
Inflammaging’s symptoms have been described as low-grade, chronic and systemic (in the absence of infection,) which is significantly associated with both mortality and morbidity, defined as an ongoing disease condition.
The good news is that lifestyle interventions such as diet and exercise can minimize inflammaging’s effects.
