Have we been at the same Health and Fitness practices so long that nothing feels fresh, inspiring or effective?
Here are a few suggestions to freshen up our fitness…
1. Mix Up Our Workouts
- Try new activities: Explore different forms of exercise like dancing, mock rock climbing, or swimming.
- Vary Our intensity: Alternate between safe high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and steady-state cardio.
- Change Our environment: Workout outdoors or in a different gym.
2. Set New Goals
- Challenge Ourselves: Aim for a new personal best, learn a new skill, or participate in a race. If health allows, check out the Senior Games.
- Track Personal progress: Use fitness apps or a journal to monitor your achievements and stay motivated.
3. Prioritize Rest and Recovery
- Listen to Our body: Avoid overtraining and take rest days when needed.
- Prioritize sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.
- Manage stress: Practice relaxation techniques like meditation or yoga.
Take A Few Days Off: Experience a total re-charge.
4. Find a Workout Buddy
- Accountability partner: Having someone to work out with can help us stay motivated and accountable.
- Social support: Enjoying exercise with friends makes it more enjoyable.
5. Reward Ourselves
- Celebrate milestones: Treat Ourself to something we enjoy after reaching a goal.
- Positive reinforcement: Reward Ourself for staying consistent with workouts.
