Science has identified the Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load as being useful guides for individuals needing to keep blood sugar levels consistent and/or wanting to shed pounds through nutritious eating.
Knowing the glycemic load of a food is considered very useful in regards to impact on our health. See easy-to-read article.
For practical purposes – if 90% of our shopping is on the fresh food aisles of a grocery store and we stay away/minimize pastries, candy and what used to be called “starchy” foods [white potatoes, rice and piled high plates of pasta,] we pretty much will walk the talk of sound glycemic choices.
Doctors then will give hearty congratulations when reviewing our lab results and we happily will tighten those loosening belt notches. WF!
