Here we are on April 15 – the U.S. government-set date for personal tax filing and payment.
A partial tax definition quoted via Google’s Gemini AI includes…
“A tax is essentially a mandatory financial contribution that you make to the government. It’s like a fee, but instead of paying for a specific service you use, you’re contributing to a pool of money that the government uses to fund various public services and programs…
* Why they are important: Taxes are necessary for the government to function and provide essential services for its citizens.”
OK. Here is the essence of the time and energy fitness tax we pay when so many activities, other than exercise, beckon our attention.
A. Without dedicated physical movement, our bodies cease their effective function: 1. Circulation lags; 2. joints stiffen; 3. digestion slows; 4. thinking wanders.
B. We become less useful – unable to provide essential services to self, family and community.
Let’s consider our mandatory fitness tax – not as taxation without representation – but as the essential fee we gladly pay for upholding self and those whom we love. WF!
