Since June is Men’s Health Month and Women generally live longer than men, today’s post will focus on what the majority of our readers (female) can do to contribute to health of the husband’s, brothers, sons and good male friends in your life.
A quick internet search yields helpful articles on what men can do to stay pro-active regarding their health:
1. Indiana University School of Medicine lists Five Things To Know about Men’s Health.
2. Lifespan website describes Men’s Health Month and important medical screenings to obtain during various life stages.
My personal experience and longevity-related literature includes these five contributions towards Men’s Health and Longevity:
A. Encourage the men in your life to eat more fruits and vegetables.
B. Suggest they maintain and create relationships with other men as an antidote to social isolation.
C. Recommend life-long walking and strength training.
D. Set a personal example – eat your veggies, keep exercising, maintain friends.
Recognize that daily choice matters.
Follow Mahatma Gandhi’s advice of “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
