ET TU BRUTE

As March 15th, also known as the Ides of March, approaches, thoughts turn to William Shakespeare’s famous line, “…And you, Brutus?” from the play Julius Caesar, wherein Caesar sees that Brutus, his dearest friend and protegé has betrayed him.

What does Julius Caesar’s dire end have to do with our health and fitness?

The lesson here is to become AWARE of indulgences – food, beverages, medications, relationships, activities – which through their increased enjoyment and participation we somehow find ourselves attached, then craving, then dependent, then addicted.

Frequency and quantity lead to behaviors that won’t be denied.

Like Caesar’s Brutus, that which we love turns against us.

Our purpose is to enhance the joy of living.

We set ourselves free with the continual question…”What’s really going on with myself and ___________?

Ask it over and over until the Truth stares us in the face.

We see the Truth. We admit the Truth. We are Free. WF
