Why are donuts being featured on WildFire!’s True To My Body website blog?
National Donut Day is celebrated every year on the first Friday in June, which is four days from today, June 1, 2015. The cause behind National Donut Day is worth a nod. It acknowledges work of the Salvation Army and “Doughnut Dollies” who brought donuts (either spelling is okay) to wounded soldiers during war time.
This Friday we may want to enjoy a donut – healthy or otherwise – or perhaps send a donation to the Salvation Army.
The link? My mother created lifelong friendships and enjoyed happy exercise hours at the Salvation Army facility in Chula Vista, CA, during the 70’s and 80’s. Her group fitness instructor taught class until past the instructor’s 89th birthday – setting the example for me to lead the Zumba Gold® classes we all attend.
Let’s keep moving this week – with once a year donut in hand on Friday. WF!
