How many ways can we say Diet and Exercise framework life’s well-being?

Juxtapositioning the English language sublime words of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s Sonnet 43* with the cartoon nutrition image shown above may seem counterintuitive.

Yet appreciating and participating in Life’s bounty through the whole of Body, Mind and Spirit opens us to ecstasy wherever we find it
, which today is in our Bones.

In regards to Bones, Bones, Bones – all 206 of them in the human body – diet and exercise, (setting aside congenital issues for this discussion) contribute to health of almost any of the “”osteo” conditions listed below, found on Google from Dictionary.com

  • osteoarthritis.
  • osteoblast.
  • osteochondritis.
  • osteogenesis.
  • osteophage.
  • osteoplasty.
  • osteoporosis.

The Harvard Health Publishing Special Health Report: Exercises for Bone Strength welcome letter states…”Exercise is one of the pillars of bone care. When you exercise, your muscles tug on your bones; your body responds over time by strengthening them. Similarly when you engage in high-impact exercise such as running or jumping, the repeated pounding causes the body to build up the bones that bear the brunt of the activity…”

The above report and I both caution that due to fracture risk, running and jumping, or other high impact activities absolutely should not be done by those already diagnosed with osteoporosis!

However, modifications exist.
A modification example for someone who does not have severe osteoporosis could include holding onto the back of a sturdy chair and doing low level mini-jumping jacks.

Forward bending exercises, called flexion, should be modified or avoided by those with osteoporosis. Click on the article Ten Osteoporosis Exercises to Avoid for well-described cautions and photos.

Returning to our Vibrant Longevity Purpose…Saving our bones necessitates movement.

Joyful exercise is our mantra.

Find a way. Do the research. Work with a certified trainer.
