RETURN TO THE FORM

Here we are – January’s last couple of days have arrived.

Some of us might be feeling our Beginning of 2023 intentions slipping away.

Choose your Form – Physical or Mental.

Return To The Form is a phrase I learned many years ago in Karate class. The saying translates Kata, a Japanese word, which refers to a choreographed pattern of martial arts movements made to be practiced alone or in unison within groups as a way to memorize and perfect basic martial arts movements.

Today I Return To The Form
is one of TWO handwritten self-motivation phrases I wrote on a 4X6 index card sometime in my 40’s.

The other phrase written on that card was “Today I Go the Distance” – first heard in the original Rocky movie when Rocky described how he hoped he could just go the distance in his upcoming Heavyweight Fight against Apollo Creed.

These two sayings are a way out of end-of-January’s fading New Year’s fitness goals:

1. Return To The Form – just go back to the basics – to movement we know – to where we left off.


2. Go the Distance – stay the course, even if it becomes a slog, until our session ends.


3. Today – health and fitness are not some grand “pie in the sky’ event. They are the Daily actions, behaviors and habits out of which we create our life.

Let’s go. Pick it up. We believe in each other. WF!
