FEBRUARY HEART

Since February is recognized as American Heart Month by the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it seemed appropriate that we would devote today’s post to intertwining the care of our physical and emotional heart.

First, though … here is our public service announcement:
See logo below from the American Heart Association (AHA,) a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke through cardiovascular medical research and educating consumers on healthy living.
Every two years I earn my Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED designation from the AHA. Plus I donate modest amounts.

By clicking on the link below the logo, you can join me in contributing to scientific research and community awareness information that may save any one of our lives.

Go ahead and donate. It will do good for all our hearts. https://www.heart.org

Now back to our personal intertwining of physical and emotional heart care…

  • Monitor Blood Pressure.
  • Easy Does It when things don’t go our way.
  • Keep Focusing On Weight Control no matter how challenging.
  • Take a Brisk Walk – Regular Strolling doubles up Physical and Emotional heart credits.
  • Hold the Salt.
  • Laugh a Lot. Get a joke book, watch funny movies, etc., to get us started.
  • Stop All Tobacco Use.
  • Talk to a Professional about excessive depression, anxiety, anger and stress. Getting those rough emotions “off our chest” lightens the load.
  • Get busy with any physical activity we enjoy.
  • Hang out with family and friends who love, like and accept us.
  • Don’t Worry. Be Happy.” Sing along with children in the Youtube video song by Bobby McFerrin.
  • Give ourselves a break. We deserve it. WF!
